Hm. Interesting to hear that part of Trump's aim is to delay opening Hormuz for EU pressure and alignment towards us. Haven't heard this and some other deep points you mention. Thanks Rod. I'm curious, I guess, how you draw your insights here etc.
I think it's going to be extremely interesting to see if Iran actually opens the Strait now that there's a ceasefire. The talk is that they (and perhaps Oman?) are seeking to set up a toll booth rather than actually reopen, and if that's true, it adds to the pressure on Europe while we sort things out. In either case, Trump avoids the need to do anything about that until and unless he wants to, while the USS Boxer, USS Ford, and USS Bush are (wait for it) almost exactly two weeks away.
So much one could say here. It's just incredible what he's taking on, the consequences, and the pressure. Thank you for giving a "reality based" broad perspective that I don't see anywhere else.
An excellent conversation between Dr. Martin and Eric Metaxas! Donald Trump is keeping everyone guessing on what he’s going to do next with his rhetoric and keep the Ayatollahs off balance. It is fitting this conversation was had today given that President Trump just announced a two-week ceasefire in Iran and that the United States, Israel and Iran have agreed to a framework for a ten point peace plan. Let us pray they negotiate a permanent peace deal! Trump has handled the whole situation in Iran masterfully! The United States and Israel have decisively won this war. Iran’s navy is decimated, their ballistic missile program drained, they will never be obtaining the bomb, we have supremacy in the skies and their air force was proven to be a paper Tiger, and Ali Khamenei is dead. God Bless America! 🇺🇸 God bless Israel! 🇮🇱
Our NATO “allies” as of late, are weak and pathetic. They refused to even send ships to help clear mines. That is until Trump put pressure on them to do so. The fact they wouldn’t even give us permission to use their air space tells you all you need to know. They need to be more like Israel. A self-sufficient partner who can defend themselves. Not a bunch of freeloaders depending on us to be there every time to be their security blanket. Keir Starmer, Emmanuel Macron and Frederich Merz are all pathetic excuses for leaders. They are all need to be voted out of office. Mark Carney must go too! Canada and Britain both have been acting like authoritarian states lately with how they’ve been arresting people for internet memes, jokes or political opinions. That has got to stop! Pray in front an abortion clinic in Britain? You’ll be arrested. Protest against vaccine mandates or quote the Bible about homosexuality? That makes you a criminal in Canada who needs to be locked up and the key thrown away.
Trump is pushing Europe to wake up. Should NATO go away? No. But our allies must at least pay half of the cost for the upkeep of the alliance. The Iran War shouldn’t cause the end of NATO, but it should lead to the burden of cost sharing to become more even. Can Europe be saved? Yes. Gradually I think Europe is changing for the better. But much more is left to be done! European countries must increase military spending and the size of their militaries dramatically! Britain in particular needs a massive military buildup. They need to return to Cold War levels of military spending and quadruple the number of ships they have in service. Our NATO allies need to start being cooperative and emulating Israel, Saudi Arabia and Hungary. Georgi Meloni, Viktor Orban and Karol Nawrocki are the type of leader all European heads of state should aspire to be.
