Ah, the refreshing return of aspiring to a life filled with eternal purpose. By sharing true doctrine contrasted by secular philosophy, you offered a map with bearings and Jesus Christ as our compass. Thanks for starting my week out on the right path.
Well said! Thank you for the information! It’s also amazing that in many places it’s a more serious violation of law to “potentially harm” an animal than have an human abortion; which seems backwards to me.
Ahh, yes "abortion." I firmly believe that America has been "paying the Piper," for decades. That '73, legislating from the bench, decree by the SCOTUS brought on GENOCIDE in the womb. Over 70 MILLION pre-born/post born children, God's gifts, slaughtered on the alter of abortion on demand! I believe a 'righteous' God cannot be happy with that result!
Ah, Oregon. The coastline there is always the closest I feel to heaven. Couldn't we just do a land swap and move all the Texans (like me) onto the west coast, and all the Washingtonians, Californians, and Oregonians into Texas? Perhaps that's what heaven is like - the Oregon coast with Texans as neighbors. Side note, I know a few girls who seem to enjoy hunting as well, just saying. Anyway, great article and may you, Pastor Mills, continue to bring God's truth and blessings to that hardened soil.
I’ll be honest, I’m not the kind of person you would think would agree with this excellent piece by Jason Mills. I’m all for animal rights and am a pacifist who does not hunt or fish for moral reasons. I’m strongly against medical testing on animals, fox hunting, dogfighting, cockfighting, poaching, factory farming, and the wearing of animal fur. I’m also very passionate about protecting endangered species of animals, cleaning up our seas and saving the Amazon Rainforest. So you’d think I’d disagree with Mr. Mills, but I do not. I agree completely with this article! I think groups like PETA, the Animal Liberation Front and the Earth Liberation Front are insane and make us animal lovers look bad! I also don’t think it’s makes any sense to treat animals the same as humans. I believe that human beings and animals are equal but ONLY in the narrow sense we both deserve to be treated humanely and with kindness. But animals aren’t as intelligent as us humans are, they don’t understand complex political systems, don’t understand things like art, music, science, mathematics, voting, language, or numbers for example. Nor can they build the highly developed civilizations man has. This is not to say there aren’t some species out there that aren’t close to humans in terms of intelligence. There most certainly are like apes, chimpanzees, dolphins, elephants, cats, pigeons, and pigs. But that doesn’t change that no other species on the planet can match what humans can do and have achieved. God’s word is clear, humans have dominion over animals and nature. By this He does NOT mean we are free to exploit, destroy or nominate animals and plants and do with them what we please. What the Bible means is that we have a responsibility to care for all living things on this planet and treat them with respect. We need to be good stewards to the Earth. That is what that passage from the Bible means and that is what God wants us to do. Pretending animals are equal to humans in every way is preposterous and against the word of God. God loves and cares about animals and plants. But he gave us the responsibility of caring for them for a reason. Mankind for all our faults, is developed enough to run civilization. Animals and plants are not. Call me crazy but I don’t think a monkey or a cow could run the White House. I hate to break to you guys on the far left, but dandelions can’t cast a vote in an election, pass a bill in the Senate or make the decision to go to war. A pumpkin can’t sign an executive order or speak out at a town hall. I don’t see goldfish DJing at a teen’s birth party or a snake maintaining law and order or keeping the streets clean. Only humans are dialed into the fact we exist and have the ability to do all those things. This is why God put US in charge of civilization and not roosters, chickens, pigs, cows, deer, antelope, ants, or frogs. We cannot and should not reject Genesis and God’s natural order of things. All living things have their roles to play. God’s hierarchy is good and moral. It also just makes sense.
If we do so, we would destroy human civilization and cause chaos. Loony progressives and leftists in Oregon almost getting a petition passed that banned all hunting, fishing, farming, and animal husbandry is absolutely insane and shows why that state needs to elect sane center-left Democrats and Republicans and oust woke nuts like Tina Kotek and Keith Wilson. We must NEVER go against Genesis! Dr. Martin, I must commend you and Mr. Mills for bringing this attempted Oregon ballot measure to my attention! It is absolutely disgraceful and absolute insanity! By the way, we need hunting and fishing to combat overpopulation and some people do it for food. It fact, some people would starve and die if they couldn’t hunt or fish. This reminds me of the ridiculous bans we’ve seen on animals in circuses and carnivals. I see nothing wrong or unethical about that kind of stuff. The state of Illinois recently passed a law banning all animal shows which is total nonsense. As long as they are treated well and taken care of, I don’t see what’s wrong with using animals for shows. It’s true that in the past animals were treated badly and in some cases hunted to extinction or near extinction and that was obviously wrong. But I feel like these days we are overcorrecting. Should Circuses and other animal shows be subject to the law when it comes how they treat animals? Absolutely! If a circus for example is mistreating animals then absolutely shut it down. But we shouldn’t ban circuses or animal shows altogether. Returning to the attempted ballot measure in Oregon, farming and animal husbandry are essential things we as a society need. There is a natural food chain in human existence and nothing can change that! We need protein! Despite the best efforts of vegans, no popular, widespread substitute for meat has ever been found. Meat made of plants will never be able to replace it not should it.
Good stuff Gov! This type of idiocy is fomented by non-believers, agnostics, and the ill-informed, ill-educated. As you have pointed out in this article, children should be 'raised' and not just spawned. "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6 Sadly, these people have not be "trained," only INDOCTRINATED with foolishness.
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” Genesis 1:26
