How the culture seeks to subvert God's design for our relationships, doing immeasurable harm to all involved, and what you can do to protect yourself, your loved ones, and your walk with Christ.
RIP Voddie Bacham (1969-2025)! May his memory be a blessing! 🇺🇸✝️⛪️❤️🌸🌺💐🕊️🕯️He was a faithful servant of God! I listened to his sermon all the way through. I have my disagreements with it here and there, but overall I agree with the message Voddie put forward here. I am a liberal mainline Lutheran, Voddie and I probably would’ve have had many theological disagreements. But his overall message resonates with me. I don’t agree with what he said about homosexuality or gay marriage. I believe marriage is between two human beings who God has blessed with a loving and sincere relationship regardless of sex. I believe it makes no sense to say homosexuality is sinful. Why would God create feelings within LGBTQ+ people he condemns? Nor would I call homosexuality “abnormal.” Yes, most people are straight, but a minority are born attracted to the same sex. But that doesn’t make it abnormal any more than having autism, being blind or being deaf are “abnormal” since most people are able-bodied and neurotypical. Just because something is less common doesn’t make it “abnormal” or a defect. Homosexuality has always been with us since the beginning to time. God created people of all different skin colors, with different cultures and who speak all different languages. So it stands to reason he would also create people of all different sexual orientations and gender identities as well. But I understand his overall point, changing definitions that have always meant one thing can be very dangerous. A man is a person with XY chromosomes and a woman is a person with XX chromosomes. Period. End of story. Transgender people can live as women, but they can never actually be women. Biological sex is NOT a social construct and will always stay the same. Gender presentation can be changed but your biology can never be. Man and woman have always meant the same thing for thousands of years. That shouldn’t change now!
The LGBT Movement has become too radical and gone too far! I’m all for LGBTQ+ people having equal rights under the law and gay couples having the right to get married and adopt children. But I’m NOT for redefining terms that have had been established for a long time now and have a clear biological basis and are backed by science! Nor are there anymore than two genders. Yes, nonbinary and intersex people exist but they are rare and are anomalies rather than being proof of the existence of a third gender. Nor should they be considered such. People often bring up that in other cultures outside the West there were more than two genders. But here’s the thing, these folks weren’t literally a third gender. They were effeminate men and masculine women being themselves. Also, I agree girls that can be masculine or have traditionally male interests and boys can be feminine and have traditionally female interests. But if that’s true, then why are you taking these kids and telling them they need to transition? Furthermore, it is just a fact that there are traits, toys, clothing, and jobs that men are predominantly attracted to and that women are predominantly attracted to. Men and women aren’t just different physically but also neurologically. Gender differences aren’t nurture, their nature. Read Charles Murray’s book Human Diversity to learn more on this topic. The Bible is NOT anti-sex! The Bible says that sex far from being just for reproduction, is a beautiful thing that binds two human beings together. It’s not just something you do purely for pleasure as modern society tells us.
Nor is sex all we are as Sigmund Freud suggested or just a materialistic thing as Karl Marx suggested. It’s a very important, beautiful and a holy thing and you should be responsible with it. The Bible also states that husbands should be kind to and honor their wives as women are the weaker sex. The Bible further states that a wife belongs to her husband but also that a husband belongs to his wife. That’s not “patriarchy” and neither was the passage from scripture I mentioned above. God very clearly believes that men and women are equal and Jesus certainly did. He had many women in his inner circle whose word and counsel he valued highly such as Mary Magdelene. No, God and Jesus of Nazareth certainly did not and don’t, hate women. Nowhere in the Bible does it say a wife is a slave to her husband or that beating your wife is fine. God considers both those things to be a sin! We need to return to the traditional understanding of sex and its purpose! We need to start to start taking marriage, divorce, sex, family, and children seriously again as a society! The nuclear family is not patriarchal, it’s in line with God’s word and is common sense. Also, just because someone “feels” they are a boy or a girl, doesn’t mean they actually are. I don’t care what they “feel” I care about facts. If your son or daughter is a minor and they start saying they “feel” like they are opposite sex then get them some counseling so they can figure out who they are for sure. On another note, there is nothing wrong with celibacy, but as God’s word says, you should not do it for a long period of time. Voddie Bacham had much invaluable wisdom to share with us in this sermon!
