I realize this is off subject but here's my biggest concern. ever since the pandemic, our grocery prices are just out of sight at almost 76 years old on a fixed income. this has considerably impacted my family. when can we see a change in this situation? please advise
No kidding! It's really bad. But it is indeed moving in the right direction.
1. Wage growth is now outpacing inflation by a significant margin. Inflation was running ahead of wages for Biden's entire term.
2. Ending taxes on Social Security should directly help you and millions of others (Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill also eliminated taxes on tips and overtime).
3. We're seeing the biggest tax refunds in history, also due to OBBB.
4. On the production side, national averages on eggs are down 48%. Tomatoes and Potatoes are down 12%. Dairy isn't down much, but farm-level milk is down 33%, which bodes well for retail. On the other hand, beef is up 15%, which I think reflects a longer term contraction in herd sizes that's going to take a while to work out (and mostly has nothing to do with Biden).
So relief is coming, by reducing costs for both consumers and producers. But the truth is, when you elect the wrong people, there are consequences. I'm very sorry you're feeling some of them. I know I am too.

I know he's doing the right thing, especially against corruption and doing everything possible to rid our country of illegals. Your comments really do make me feel better and we're doing our best to stretch our budget, but in spite of all that, I'm hanging in there because I think President Trump has move this country forward and has done more to protect this country than I've seen in my lifetime again very much like what you said. A most enlightening conversation between Dr. Martin and Chairman Del Becarro! The markets definitely did overreact big time to the strikes on Iran. They panicked and thought it was going to lead to World War III. But it never happened and Operations Roaring Lion and Epic Fury have been roaring successes. The Supreme Leader is dead, Iran is running out of ballistic missiles and mines, the entire Iranian Navy has been destroyed, we have total supremacy in the air, and Israel, the Gulf States and the Kurds are safer for it! After the Ayatollahs fall, oil prices will plummet as the danger posed by that regime will evaporate. I pray the economy will boom just as you predict Dr. Martin! I did not know there was a short recession during the Gulf War, but it doesn't surprise me. Indeed, everyone was worried it would be the next Vietnam. Former Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara testified against the war in Congress. Former President Jimmy Carter wrote letters to Arab heads of state urging them not to join President Bush's coalition. Hundreds of thousands of Americans took to the streets to protest the war. But the 1990-91 Persian Gulf War ended up being a huge success and a runaway victory for the U.S. and coalition forces as Ba'athist Iraq was routed and driven out of Kuwait. George H.W. Bush and General "Stormin" Norman Schwarzkopf masterfully led the United States Military during the war. Bush built a broad international coalition to stand against Iraq even convincing the Soviet Union to join the United States in condemning their client state.
On a side note, I think George H.W. Bush was a great and underrated President. In addition to what he achieved in the Gulf War, he accomplished much in his four years in office. He toppled Manuel Noriega in Panama and paved the way for a vibrant democracy in that country that lasted to this day, got a reunified Germany into NATO, managed a peaceful end to the Cold War, negotiated the START I Treaty and the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Clean Air Act Amendments, the Civil Rights Act of 1991, the Hate Crime Statistics Act, the Immigration Act of 1990, and appointed Clarence Thomas and David Souter to the Supreme Court. It would be his son George W. who would lead America into not one but two quagmires in Iraq and Afghanistan. Bush Sr. was smart enough not to go into Iraq and overthrow Saddam. I see a red wave in the 2026 midterms. The Democrats have accomplished diddly squat on behalf of the American people, robbed TSA workers of their pay over ICE reforms that don't have a prayer of passing, the Supreme Court is likely to strike down all their gerrymandering plans, Trump has quite an impressive list of accomplishments to tout to the public, and the strikes on Iran are very popular with the public. The fear AI will cause mass unemployment is ridiculous. Every time a new technology comes along predictions of doom are made that always prove to be wrong. The late Paul Ehrlich for instance predicted the world would become overpopulated in 1968, he was 100% wrong.
Tucker Carlson is a loathsome ghoul who needs to zip it with all his antisemitic conspiracy theories about Israel and the Jewish people. Ashkenazi Jews are for the most part, NOT descended from the Khazars but from the Ancient Hebrews of the Bible. Guess what, when the first Arab settlers arrived in the holy land there were still 300,000 Jews still living there who hadn't fled. Jesus of Nazareth was NOT an Arab either. His crucifixion and death happened long before the first Arab set foot in the holy land. He was a Mizrahi Jew born in Bethlehem in the Kingdom of Judea. No sovereign Arab state ever existed in the holy land, but the Kingdoms of Israel and Judea did! Yes, Arabs have lived in the holy land for centuries to be sure. But the Jews had lived there even longer, to one degree or another for three millennia. Jerusalem is the eternal and undivided capital of the state of Eretz-Israel not an imaginary state of Palestine that never existed. Under Donald Trump, this fact was finally formally recognized by the United States! I'm not saying the Palestinians don't deserve self-determination too, they absolutely do. But if a Palestinian state is created, it must be governed by a secular, liberal democracy not Fatah and Hamas.
