Carney’s a real piece of work as well. He’s a ex-Governor of the Bank of Canada who couldn’t be more elitist if he tried. He bashes President Trump and then turns around and kisses up to him whenever he’s trying to secure a trade deal. On his watch, the Canadian economy has gone into a death spiral. Federal spending has skyrocketed on Carney’s watch as well. He continues to stick arbitrary and unnecessary regulations on fossil fuels. Not to mention that boondoggle of a pipeline he wishes to build which won’t work and will p*** off the First Nations people. Returning to the main subject of the piece, I am all for legalizing physician-assisted suicide and euthanasia. But ONLY for those who are in great pain, sound of mind and suffering from a terminal illness. Poverty, disability, having PTSD or Clinical Depression, etc. are NOT reasons to make someone eligible for state-sanctioned termination of life! Canada’s euthanasia program is beginning to look a lot like the Nazi’s T4 program. This is NOT how how Canada should be handling this program!
This is not compassionate or merciful! It is cruel and monstrous! Sophia and Alan Nichols were murdered by the state in secret and their families were not notified until after they had died. Roger Foley luckily said no. The state callously considered it cheaper to just kill them and be done with it than give them the help they needed. This is indefensible! I call on the United States to champion a resolution at the UN condemning Canada’s euthanasia program! The EU should also pass a resolution condemning it! Mark Carney should be forced to resign from office. Parliament most move immediately to pass a bill with broad cross party support, to limit those eligible for euthanasia to those who meet the above criteria I mentioned. Sophia and Alan Nichols’ families will receive an official apology from the Canadian government and be paid reparations. The doctors who performed their procedures will have their licenses revoked, will be arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Palliative medicine will be greatly expanded. Disability support will be improved.
Once a society moves away from embracing the sanctity of life and towards concepts of a "life not worth living," or "useless eaters," the slippery slope is inevitable. Abortion is framed as saving the life of the mother (which is almost never the case), then expanded to "on demand" for any reason.
A medical profession that accepts, and even endorses, the intentional taking of innocent lives has completely abandoned any semblance of ethics. The comparison with Nazi doctors is justified, especially after witnessing the Covid debacle.

This is precisely why socialized medicine is always a bad idea. If you want government to pay for healthcare, you need a voucher system: you must not have direct control.
Exactly right. Direct third party payments to physicians interfere with the doctor-patient relationship and are inherently unethical. Patients need to understand this and move to third party-free practices, which are growing in number.
