So, Rod or anyone else, my son and I are in a disagreement that I’d like your take on. I say we’re in a Fourth Turning where the elites versus the populists, or the globalist versus the nationalists, or the communist versus the capitalists, or all three, it’s raging on, and yet to be won by the good guys. He argues that we’re in a First Turning. The Republicans hold the house, the Senate, the presidency, and the supreme court, and we have articles like yours above.
It is possible both of you are wrong. I am an Unlicensed Noncertified historian (which sounds much better than a history nut), The world is waaaay to complicated for one theory/idea to explain it all. Instead of looking at politics/thew world as the 1st or 4th tuning it could be...Tuesday.

I think you’re saying that The Turnings is just an oversimplified way to describe history. It’s way more complicated than that theory can even begin to explain.
We seem to forget that Militarily, Culturally, Economically, The United States Of America IS the 800lb gorilla. What's the saying "If America gets a cold the world gets pneumonia"
I recall reading one of the reasons the War Of Independence happened is a lot of powerful people in GB realized if they didn't get The Colonies under control, very soon the tail would be wagging the dog.
