Rod D. Martin and Don Ma go in-depth on President Trump’s declared end to the Iran MOU and ceasefire, the resumption of hostilities, and what comes next.
In great part. But that has gone very badly for them:
1. Hamas is beaten (not annihilated, but beaten), and is dissolving its government in Gaza.
2. Hezbollah has been severely reduced and the Lebanese government is making peace with Israel, on terms that require Hezbollah's disarmament and removal.
3. The Houthi threat to shipping has been greatly reduced, and the reduction of Iran (its source of arms and cash) will reduce that further over time regardless of any further direct action against it.
4. The Turks beat and replaced Iran's (and Russia's) Syrian client regime.
5. The new Iraqi government is shutting down the Shia militias aligned with Iran, which may be the most remarkable (and unexpected) development of all.
So as it stands, the modern Iranian empire has been rolled up or is in the process of being, and cutting off the head of the snake is the principal thing remaining.
I agree with Rod here. Iran built its power through proxies, ambiguity, and deniability — but those layers are being peeled back one by one.
Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, Syria, and the Iraqi militias were never separate issues. They were all part of the same architecture.
That doesn’t mean the danger is over. In some ways, a cornered regime can become more dangerous. But the regional balance is clearly shifting, and a lot of people missed how fast it was happening.
Someone in agreement with my claim that until every one of those Theocratic, radical Islamist Mullahs, and that joined at the hip IRGC mob, are either removed from the country or buried in it, there can be NO diplomatic solution, or peace in the Middle East! That Strait of Hormuz is international waters, and Iran saying they control it should tell the entire World that they should be 'taken out!' Take control of that island, by whatever means, and occupy it if necessary. That should not be necessary if 'Regime Change' in Iran is accomplished, and the people are in charge! There has already been far too much yak, yak, yakity-yaking, going on. As is said in my neck of the woods, "GIT IN THERE AND GIT'ER DUN!"

The different factions are fighting Iran and assassinations and counter-assassinations are happening! The Islamic Republic is rotting from the inside out! The ceasefire ending prematurely surprises no one. We all knew it would. You’re right Dr. Martin, Donald Trump knows these people can’t really be dealt with. He just does these little ceasefires to stir the pot among the different factions in Iran and train up the Immortal Guard. Will a settlement be reached? Never in a million years! There’s only one way this war ends, with the Immortal Guard with assistance from the United States and Israel, taking on what remains of the Islamic Republic. In any case, Trump has no choice he has to go all the way and topple the Islamic Republic or Operation Epic Fury was totally pointless. We can’t betray the people of Iran by negotiating a peace deal with the IRGC! We’ve got to finish the job! Don’t start something you can’t finish! On another note, I call on Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, and Pakistan to join the Abraham Accords! This would build a foundation for lasting peace in the region!
As to Israel once Iran is defeated, they must do everything in their power to defend their country in light of October 7th. The Gaza Peace Plan won’t work. It just won’t. There too many questions about different parts of it. Plus, Hamas is still around. Israel must undo the grave mistake made in 2005 and annex Gaza and it must be reoccupied and resettled. They must assert full sovereignty over the West Bank, expel the Palestinian Authority and send them into exile to whatever Arab country will have them. Israel should reoccupy Southern Lebanon. They should with the permission of the Egyptian government, set up a buffer zone in the Sinai. Construction for the E1 Settlements in the West Bank should proceed as scheduled. The settlements in East Jerusalem should be expanded. Israel should take the Temple Mount from Jordan in a lightning raid akin to Entebbe in 1978.
