The world that Joe Biden left us is very different from the one Donald Trump and his administration presided over now. The Trump administration has remade the world and it’s been largely tor the better. Israel is stronger and more secure than ever. Iran has been severely weakened and the Islamic Republic is teetering on the brink of collapse. Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis have been greatly diminished. With the collapse of the Assad regime the Russians, Chinese and Iranians have lost a major client state. The Strait of Hormuz is on its way to being irrelevant. Existing pipelines that bypass the Gulf are being expanded. New ones have been planned or are under construction to the Red Sea, the Mediterranean and the Gulf of Oman respectively. Russia is humiliated, hemorrhaging and getting its butt kicked in Ukraine. China has been forced to recalibrate every assumption they made about the United States. Latin America is overwhelmingly pro-American.
When John Kerry declared the Monroe Doctrine over in 2013, it sent a signal to our enemies that the door was open to start expanding their sphere of influence into the region. A wave of left-wing and far-left governments were elected in Latin America over the next few years. But all that has changed now with Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay, Ecuador, Panama, Honduras, Costa Rica, and El Salvador all are led by right-wing, pro-American government and right-wingers are about to take office in Peru and Colombia. Guatemala and the Dominican Republic are firmly in our camp as well. Nicolas Maduro is sitting in a jail cell in New York City and Delce Rodriquez is cooperating with the United States. Only Cuba, Mexico, Brazil, Nicaragua, and Uruguay are still governed by left-wing administrations. China, Russia and Iran’s shadow oil trade with Venezuela is gone. China has been kicked out of the Panama Canal. Illegal immigration from Mexico and Latin America has been brought to a complete halt for the first time ever.
The Carney government is rethinking its pro-Chinese, pro-European and anti-American stance. Prior to Trump’s election, Canada welched on its defense commitments, ran up a $50 billion dollar trade surplus and loosened security along the Northern Border. Now Canada is actively working to keep its defense commitments, correcting the above mentioned trade imbalance and has beefed up security on the Northern Border. A stronger American-Canadian relationship is being built. Trump also has used the immense leverage he has to force Mexico to get their act together. Mexico has long been anti-American. The United States has long extended concessions to it which has only emboldened the Mexicans and made them somehow hate us even more. $65 million dollars worth of remittances have gone to Mexico much of it from illegal immigrants. Mexico City has long tacitly given the green light to illegal immigration.
Mexico also ran up a $200 billion dollar trade surplus and drug-exporting cartels have murdered thousands of Americans. Meanwhile, billions of dollars in drug profits have been poured into the Mexican economy. But Donald Trump put a stop to all this nonsense. He has sharply taxed remittances, reduced Mexico’s trade surplus, halt all illegal immigration and much of the legal immigration from Mexico, and ended cartel violence. The Middle East has undergone a radical transformation during his time in office. Iran is bankrupted, severely weakened, humiliated, and proven to be a paper tiger. That won’t mess with Israel anymore because they now know Israel can strike them anytime they want to. In a historic development that once would’ve been unthinkable but just a couple of decades prior, Israel is providing intelligence and missile defense to the Muslim Gulf State. Lastly, our European allies are no longer freeloading off us and are increasing the size of their militaries and their military spending.
