PayPal alumni have gone on to do astonishing things, possibly more than any similar group from a single dot-com ever. As my friend Eric Jackson told Forbes back in 2006, the brain drain at PayPal was eBay’s loss, but the world’s gain.

It’s humbling to consider the accomplishments of my former colleagues, whom the media have dubbed the “PayPal Mafia.” I have had the honor to work alongside some of the most talented people ever assembled in Silicon Valley, as evidenced by the partial list below. These are just a few of the companies and organizations started or run by former-PayPalians, and does not begin to list all the revolutionary companies whose existence has been made possible through their early investment.

Peter and Max might not have realized it at the time, but their company was more than just a successful dot-com. It turned out to be an entrepreneurial farm system. And today this new generation of innovative leaders has already transformed the business, technology and non-profit worlds.  It’s only the beginning.
